OUR STORY
The Crown Motel’s roots trace back to the 1950s, when the Ferrari Family began welcoming travelers to Tahoe in what are now our 100 and 200 buildings. Over the years, their passion for hospitality grew alongside the property itself. Building by building, they acquired the neighboring motels: the Goldcrest and the Falcon, carefully expanding their footprint while preserving the character and charm that made each place special.
What began as a collection of individual motels slowly came together as a single, beloved destination. Today, those original properties live on as the Crown Motel, with the former Goldcrest now known as our 400 and 500 buildings, and the Falcon now known as our 300 building, with additional spaces thoughtfully under construction.
In 2016, we had the privilege of purchasing the property from the Ferrari Family, becoming the next stewards of this historic lakeside retreat. Since then, we’ve dedicated ourselves to honoring its legacy while bringing new life to the motel through ongoing renovations and improvements, restoring its vintage charm and ensuring it continues to welcome guests for generations to come.
The Crown Motel is more than a place to stay. It’s a piece of Tahoe history, lovingly preserved and renewed, and your home away from home.
The Motel
The 71-room Crown Motel is in the heart of quaint Kings Beach in North Lake Tahoe, central to restaurants, shops & walking trails. Our family-friendly property features a variety of room layouts and amenity options for every budget. Beach cruisers are available for rental for guests to comfortably explore the local area. Our Lakeview lounge features foosball, a Wii console as well as board games. Our heated lakefront pool & hot tub offer stunning views of the lake. The Crown Deck is outfitted with BBQs, patio furniture, fire pits, and other outdoor amenities.
The BEACH
Boasting one of the largest private, sandy beaches on Lake Tahoe, The Crown offers a variety of seasonal water amenities for guests to enjoy. Kayaks and paddleboards are available for rental in addition to a selection of water toys. Relax in lounge chairs or get wild in a game of sand bocce.
